Emergency Contact Details
911 is the emergency number in Canada. You should only call 911 if you are in an emergency situation and need immediate help.
If you are in a situation that is not an emergency (for example, lost identification or property), but you would still like to contact police, you can call the non-emergency line at 902-490-5020 or 902-490-7252.
Where will the conference take place?
The conference will take place at the Halifax Convention Centre (1650 Argyle Street, in Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada) from May 28 - May 31, 2024.
How to get to the Halifax downtown / Hotel / Convention Centre from the Halifax International Airport?
This Local Guide provides more details about using your conference badge as the complimentary transit pass for the week. Stay tuned for an email with your individualised badge (check you junk folder in case!) which will be used as your temporary bus pass until you pick up your printed badge at the Registration desk on Tuesday or Wednesday.
Where will the workshops take place?
The workshops will take place at the McCain Building at Dalhousie University. There will be an information and check-in desk in Seminar 2016 where attendees can check in and get some coffee prior to their workshop. See also this information sheet with room locations and other workshops details.
Will there be an option for virtual attendance?
IASSIST 2024 will be an in-person only conference experience. In-person attendees must register online to attend the conference and participate in the workshops. Papers and presentations will be made available after the conference.
What is the registration fee?
IASSIST & CARTO 2024 Early Bird Registration Member Fee is $475 USD. Non-Members Fee is $525 USD. Conference registration fees are also listed on the registration page.

How is registration confirmed?
Email and electronic receipts will be provided by the IASSIST & CARTO 2024 Conference Registration system.
What is included in the full registration fees?
In-Person Registration for IASSIST & CARTO 2024 includes access to all sessions* and provided meals and breaks that are included on the schedule from Tuesday evening, May 28 through Friday, May 31.
_* Pre-conference workshops can be added to your registration for an additional fee of $50 USD per workshop.
What meals are included with registration?
Light morning break, full lunch, and an afternoon break will be provided to all in-person registrants Wednesday through Friday.
How do I get around in Halifax?

When will the registration desk be available on site to pick up my badge?
The Conference Registration desk will be located in the Halifax Convention Centre, Argyle Level, at the conference venue. The desk will be staffed from 15:00-19:00 Tuesday and starting at 8am Wednesday - Friday. Staff will remain at the desk during conference hours each day.
We encourage all attendees to register online only.
What is the registration cancellation policy?
All payments are in US dollars and are non-refundable. Exceptions for visa-required situations may be possible, please contact us at programme@lists.iassistdata.org
How do I add my presentation to the conference archive?
All presenters are encouraged to upload a copy of their presentation to the IASSIST 2024 Zenodo Conference Community by following these steps:
- Go to the Zenodo community at https://zenodo.org/communities/iassist2024
- Follow these instructions for adding materials (PDF)
- Please note you will need to create a Zenodo account if you don’t already have one. Zenodo is integrated with several other systems such as ORCID and GitHub for easy access.
- If you have issues with uploading your file(s), volunteers at the registration desk during the conference can assist you. Alternatively, you can email programme@lists.iassistdata.org
After submitting your presentation files, IASSIST volunteers will review the metadata and enhance as needed and then the materials will be made publicly available in the IASSIST Collection. Presenters may upload their files before or after the conference. We start to make them available shortly before the conference. Review and publication may take up to 48 hours during the conference week and longer later in the summer.
What platform will be used for at-conference synchronous communication?
We have a Slack channel (iassistdata) that can be used for conversations at the conference. You should receive the link to join the channel in the conference updates email. If you did not receive the link, please check your spam folder first. Then email programme@lists.iassistdata.org

Are major Credit Cards accepted everywhere?
Yes, Canada has a wide electronic banking system that supports all major international credit cards such as Visa, Mastercard, and at some vendors AMEX. International Debit cards may not work in Canada. ATMs are accessible throughout downtown Halifax if cash is required.
How can I receive regular updates about the conference?
Once you are registered, check the conference website for regular updates. Some important updates will also be shared with all registered attendees in advance of the conference via email.
