An opportunity has arisen to join the SOAS Library (a National Research Library with more than 1.2 million items and extensive electronic resources for the study of Asia, Africa and the Middle East) in its newly-formed Digital Services group.
Working closely with the SOAS Research and Enterprise office, you will help researchers and academics to make choices between “Gold” and “Green” publication options, ensuring that SOAS’ policies and funding body requirements are met. With a strong grasp of metadata standards and compliance, you will manage ingest of data into SOAS’ repositories, ensuring that depositors are able to upload their material in a timely manner, with accurate bibliographic and other metadata. You will advise and assist in the specification of system upgrades, migrations and new system implementations which might include putting SOAS intellectual property onto new Open Access Journal or Monograph platforms.
You will be a graduate with a postgraduate qualification in an appropriate discipline such as Library or Information Science, Archives Management OR substantial relevant experience, with practical experience in the use of on-line services for publishing, curating and preserving research outputs and research data. You will have a strong grasp of Open Access principles, confident to advise and assist researchers and research-active academics who need to ensure that their research outputs and data are secured and accessible. You will be able to assist in the training of researchers at all stages in their careers to ensure their data management plans are well-formed and consistently applied.
