Uk Data Service Moodle: A Snapshot and What’s Next

The UK Data Service contains the largest collection of social, economic, and population data available for reuse in the UK. We support researchers, students, and policymakers by offering guidance and training in data discovery, access, and analysis for our data collections, research data management and in computational social sciences. To enhance learning opportunities, the UK Data Service has introduced a Moodle platform for online learning in data skills. This includes courses on topics such as data management, data analysis, and using key software tools for working with social science data. After successfully piloting with one course, a full rollout is planned for April 2026. This talk will show how the platform is opening up new ways to deliver flexible, engaging online learning for the UK Data Service. This talk highlight its key features, shares a snapshot of progress to date, and outlines what’s coming next to support researchers in building essential data skills.
