Samantha Guss

Data Services Librarian
New York University
How did you become involved in the world of data?:
It was sort of accidental -- I was involved in a digital humanities project that led to an internship at a data archive, which then led me to data librarianship.
What do you value most about your membership in IASSIST?:
I'm a new member, but so far it's been really exciting to be in contact with others who either have jobs similar to mine or similar interests and projects.
What was your favorite IASSIST conference?:
Since I've only been to Ithaca, that was definitely my favorite!
What are some things you are working on currently?:
I'm currently working on the roll-out of our new web survey tool and service, a spatial data repository project, and a building our numeric data collections.
When not working with data I…:
I like to ski and ride my bike, although both have gotten less frequent since I moved to New York City. I travel a lot and am lucky to have friends and family all over to visit (and great conferences to attend)! I like exploring, food, and learning new things in general.
