Bibliography of selected works

This bibliography is an introduction to literature from the mid-1970s to the mid-1990s that represents the work of the international social science data community. It is by no means inclusive. The bibliography was prepared for a session at the annual conference of the Society of American Archivists (SAA), August 30, 1996, that focussed on the potential for partnerships between traditional and data archivists. On the assumption that the literature of the traditional archival community is known to members of the SAA, the bibliography excluded most relevant work by traditional archivists. However, many of their contributions are identified in one or more of the collective bibliographies listed herein.

Several members of IASSIST collaborated to produce this bibliography. Most of the bibliography comes from a bibliography prepared by Sue A. Dodd or from another developed by Jim Jacobs and Diane Geraci. Roger Jones, Elizabeth Stephenson, and Bridget Winstanley also contributed citations, as did Margaret O. Adams, who compiled this version. Chuck Humphrey and Walter Giesbrecht formatted the bibliography for web presentation.
